The Brief
Having previously occupied an old 1860’s ex nunnery, in September 2013 the college moved to a new state of the art building next to Everton Park Sports Centre in Liverpool.
The new build scheme included a full building, hi-tech VRF air-conditioning system by the manufacturer Panasonic.
Although K2 had successfully looked after the previous building’s
air-conditioning systems for many years to the complete satisfaction of
the maintenance department (including both installations, service and
maintenance), the new build came as a PFI style design and build project
and so the new air-conditioning installation was carried out by another
air-conditioning company associated with the main contractor.

The Solution
After occupying the new building it was apparent that the new system had a number of issues and wasn’t working correctly. After 18 months of trying to get the matter resolved the college turned to K2.
After reviewing the entire system and repairing various leaks and
miscellaneous faults in the system, for the first time since the college
was occupied, the heating and cooling across the entire building worked
correctly and efficiently.
The Result
K2 are now contracted to look after the complete system on an annual basis, ensuring a comfortable environment for staff and students alike.
